  • The fruit was more forward with this bottle (though that might because it was served a bit too cool to start). When it fully opened up about 30min later, the wine displayed its elegant character with medium to dark red fruits mingling with fine gravel. Great mouthfeel, medium finish. Probably at its plateau, but should hold for a couple more years.

  • Proof that well made Burgundy, even if just a village wine in a difficult year, can be an incredible bargain (originally around $20). Soft nose of dark fruits mingling with varied earth notes. The acidity and slight tannins noticed upon purchase of this wine have integrated, giving a rounded medium-bodied wine expressing its elegance with dark berry fruits, plums, earth and mineral flavors. No sediment. Drank at its peak after 30 minutes in the decanter. Though not an ideal pairing, it held up nicely against strip steaks with a five-spice powder oyster sauce and french prepared pumpkin. An early drinking vintage, this is likely fully mature. Drink again in one to three years.

    (Domaine Herestztyn Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes) Black cherry, bacon fat, pepper, cardamon and herbals on the nose. Great palate with silky red fruits verging on jammy. Still elegant and light as a feather. Very supple and concentrated. Stunning purity. I like this. Great QPR.
