Part of blind tasting of 3 bottles with myself, @Ian Leath @Shine J., and two of the lovely ladies. The VHR ‘19 was bottle #1, bottle #2 was Brion Oakville ‘16, Bottle #3 was Memento Mori VHR ‘19
This finished #1 for 3 outta 5 people (it was my 2nd). Surprisingly this showed youth, great density but so balanced and lively. Rich fruits, dust, rock, tobacco, florals and melted chocolate. Great finish.

Drank this ‘16 Oakville Ranch beauty on a cold, snowy evening. Dark, dark ruby color, about 2 hour decant and sipped in 5 hours. A huge, mesmerizing nose of fresh cut flowers, ripe black cherries, blackberries, plum skins, melange of barrel spices and wet stones. Bold, full-bodied palate adds some milk chocolate, graphite, with mint notes developing with time, gun flint, more sumptuous spices, and sweet tobacco. Ripe tannins, good acid structure on a long finish. One of our favorite bottles we ever had. Cheers!!

Tasted this on just a regular Thursday night and if you like big dark fruit with a long smooth finish, this is about as good as it gets. Could definitely drink this every night. One of the best wines I’ve tasted.
