  • I'm not a fan of the warm & acid-poor '18 Burgundy vintage in generel.
When re-tasting this lieu-dit G-C from negoce house Chãteau de Chardon, the fruit is more aggregated, but the usual magical Burgundy crispness is still missing!
    👁 Ruby red.
👃 Ripe Gevrey bouquet; dark cherries, sweet licorice, sour soil & composted wood from the forest floor.
👅 Fruit-driven, but "flat" texture, a bit trivial actually.
Only medium acidity, slightly candied, rather short finish.
🎯 An okay glass, but I would like more freshness, energy & concentration.
    Drink or sell!

  • Afternoon wine down at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Tasted blind.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of leather, brambles, dark red cherries, nicely pungent earth. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of leather, earth, slight animal, dark red cherries, black cherries. Long finish.
Very good quality. Masculine Burg. Good stuffing, more than the 2017. Could pass off as 1er cru level. Still young. Good development ahead.
