Popped and poured. I used to work (as an attorney) for Fred Furth, the former owner of this winery back in the late 1980s. When I first joined, the winery was known as Donna Maria. Fred hired David Ramey as winemaker and things really took off here, after the name change. It has been a few years since I tasted the winery's Chardonnay, but I always remember enjoying it, so this brings back some happy memories. This is quintessential Sonoma Chard, with nice toasty, buttery oak, but not too much. The effect is quite nice. Very rich wine. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.
Med lemon with hint of green Nose of butter, oak, lemon curd. Ripe yellow pear High acidity, med+ body Flavours of stewed green apple, lemon tart, butter and vanilla cream Good balance, ok length, good intensity and some complexity

2022 Austin Food & Wine Festival; 11/5/2022-11/6/2022 (Vic Mathais Auditorium Shores, Austin, TX): Made in a more traditional CA style: vanilla, butter, oak, melon, peach and citrus. Still a bit early as there’s still a lack of definition. Acidity is lingering in the background. Strong ending. Should be great in another year.
