Red cherry, dried cranberry, white mushrooms, dirt, tobacco, banyard, animal funk and potpourri on the nose. The palate is simpler - I mostly just get the fruit, a chemical/plastic note and a hint of dried green herbs (like herbs d'Provence).
Medium body, medium acid, medium + tannin. This feels like bulk wine Monastrell to me - the kind of thing you'd get when ordering the house red in Spain. But I give it some points for being varietally correct.

PnP. At first it wasn’t very giving. The nose was muted and the palate tight and slightly austere. Let it sit around a bit in the glass, had a bite of a New York strip steak and the fruit appeared, opening up the wine and making it more enjoyable. Open it, air it a bit, enjoy it with food.

Three years after trying my first Murcia monastrell, from Jumilla, I'm trying the Yecla region for the first time and am impressed. Big nose of glazed cherries, Play-doh and just-out-of-the-oven brownies. Intense mouth of blackcurrant, plum skin and licorice. Touch of blueberries on a short finish.

Very good juice. A little light for the variety, and showing a greenish bite at the back. Very good structure. Best with food.
