  The ‘2018 Frauenfeld Sankt-Laurent’ is a youthful, deep ruby-red colored wine (with an opaque core), sourced from old vines grown on the stony soils of the Frauenfeld vineyard, one of the world's best sites for the cultivation of this grape varietal (located in the village of Tattendorf, about thirty kilometers south of the city of Vienna). The wine spent sixteen months in French and Austrian barriques. Complex nose revealing intense scents of sour cherry, wild berries, orange zest and a hint of cedar wood and marzipan. The well-balanced and freshly structured palate shows a medium- to full-bodied wine with ripe blueberry and black plum fruit, a harmonious texture, noticeable but well-behaved tannins and a fine acid structure. Persistent aftertaste with some herbal nuances. A wine full of personality that can be enjoyed now (after a good decant), but it will improve with an additional cellaring of two-four years.
  
  De 'Frauenfeld Sankt-Laurent 2018' is een jeugdige, diep robijnrode wijn (met een ondoorzichtige kern) afkomstig van oude stokken, geteeld op de stenige bodems van de Frauenfeld wijngaard, één van de beste locaties wereldwijd voor de aanplant van deze druivenvariëteit (gelegen in het dorp Tattendorf, ongeveer dertig kilometer ten zuiden van Wenen). De wijn rijpte zestien maanden in Franse en Oostenrijkse barriques. Complexe neus met intense aroma’s van zure kers, wilde bessen, zeste van sinaasappel en ook een vleugje cederhout en marsepein. In de mond: een vrij volle, fraai uitgebalanceerde en degelijk gestructureerde wijn, gedomineerd door rijp bosbes- en zwart pruimenfruit, met een harmonieuze textuur, presente maar al mooi versmolten tannines en een fijne aciditeitsstructuur. Persistente afdronk met wat kruidige nuances. Een wijn met een eigen persoonlijkheid, die nu al gedronken kan worden (mits hem voorafgaand te decanteren), maar hij zal zich met twee-vier jaar meer kelderrust zeker nog verder ontwikkelen.

  Lovely vintage! Very elegant with a juicy red berry fruit and an elegant dose of vanilla, super silky and with good length. Probably the best SL Frauenfeld that I have tasted so far. - 91 points
