With steak & friends, good match. Tannins and acidity balanced. A little more bold than the cab sauv we also opened. A bottle in the cellar would be good.

Drinking beautifully, this really over-delivers for the price. Not terribly expressive, but plenty of black and blue fruits and spice, with excellent balance and well integrated tannins. Will buy more, this is a cellar defender.

Popped and poured. Not overly aromatic but showing some black cherry and spicy oak notes along with some black licorice. Fruit seems slightly raisiny / baked. Similar flavors on the palate with dark red plummy fruit and some black licorice on the back end. My bigger issue is with the structure as the wine drank a bit soft. Medium acidity at best with medium- tannin. Not sure if this is more a result of a warm vintage or potential storage issues with the individual bottle but this underperformed based on my experience with the winery.

Wonderfully abundant blueberry notes on the nose. A hint of something I’ll call wet slate, later on black cherries. Deep purple. Fairly well-defined legs for this 14% ABV Douro. Medium body. Plum, tart cherry. Inky, dry, bold. The wet slate shows again on the palate. Those tannins are definitely grippy and it displays medium acidity. Did not have with food, though I can definitely see this wine pairing well with blue cheese. A varietal which I continue to be interested in. Will buy a different one next time for comparison. Decanted for 75 minutes, drank from Riedel Extreme Cabernet glasses.
