The wine is superb; decanted for 3 hours and the bouquet of aromas flourished. lovely little dark red fruits, inky, violets and rosemary notes, charcoal, tobacco leaves, some earthiness. fine tannins, well integrated, balanced, high alcohol however not showing to its fullest, long aftertaste. Brilliant.

Huge change from '86 Bordeaux tasted before. Purple in the glass. On nose, blueberry, sweet cherry and vanilla. Full body, low to medium acidity, tannins covered by fruit (seemed low) with a long finish. On night 1, rated this 92-93. Guessed very young Merlot dominant Napa Bordeaux blend. I don't have much experience with higher end Napa wines given price & don't like their flavor profile (generally - this is funny as my favorite wine in the tasting was a '14 Outpost Howell Mountain Cab). Tied for 5th place in tasting out of 7.
I had the privilege of trying 24 hours later and it was a different wine. Given my wife drank most of what was left I didn't get more than a sip, but more complexity on the nose & palate vs. showing on night 1. Would love to try this in 5-10 years. Rating above is high end of range and based on night 1 tasting.

Outstanding! Very modern, charcoal, no hard edges, flavorful - a perfect pick.
