If blind, I would take this for a New World SB, probably Kiwi. There was a demonstrative highly perfumed bouquet on the nose with an ointment like edge which suggested alchemy with yeasts. This followed through onto the medium+ bodied and rather blowsy palate with almost caricatural varietal notes, particularly grapefruit type grip towards the finish but thankfully no cat's pee. On the positive side there was lively and moreish acidity. On the second night it provided a much better pairing to a very spicy Asian chicken dish than a Merlot dominated RB Bordeaux. Quite good.
