Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 86 points

  • Medium yellow colour. Discretely fruity nose with peach, some mineral, and hints of straw and wool. Medium(-) bodied on the palate with citrus, peach, good acidity, and green apple finish. Fresh and balanced, although perhaps not too complex, drinks well but not tired at all, 86 pts.

This Sauvignon wine (from your ungrafted vines planted in 2000) was probably not intended to be cellared for this long. It is one of those "odd bottles" in my cellar that I thought I'd use in a tasting, but then never gotten around to open until now. It doesn't really show much of the typical (young) Sauvignon Blanc aromas. I never tasted it young, so I can't tell if it is because of its age or because it showed more ripe fruit aromas from the start.

And a disclaimer: I'm probably even a bit more frugal than usual with my scores for most Sauvignon Blanc wines. (In Loire, I tend to like Chenin Blanc better.)
