DAY 1 👃A definite attention grabber with apples, oranges, pears, smoke, minerals, white florals and mint. Whoa! 👅Loaded but never weighty. The sweet fruit is also rich and tangy. Limes and oranges. Good acidity and a gracious midpalate. A total joy to drink
Let the remaining wine Slow Decant in my refrigerator for two weeks
DAY 14 👃Rocky minerals dominate and are complemented by white florals, ripe orange/ apples. A touch of musk. Lots going on 👅Sweet fruit like apples, li mes, and oranges with minerals. Slightly creamy. Very solid midpalate and proper kabinett sweetness
This Klostergarten Kabinett is great now and it's going to be greater as it should reward lots of cellar time Every bottle of Lukas Hammelmann wine that I open impresses me greatly. He is making wines that deserve your attention. He has mine👍

I am finally trying my first bottle of Riesling from the young star from the Pfalz. I opened it side by side with a bottle of 2020 Julian Haart Goldtröpfchen Kabinett as a little comparison to see how they both evolve over two days and how they may be similar or different. Right out of the gate, this wine showed great intensity of fruit, had a super long finish, and wonderful phenolic grip. The nose was initially quite muted but the palate showed delicious notes of lime marmalade and piquant yellow delicious apples. Throughout the evening the nose began to slowly emerge with notes of kumquat and ripe melons as the palate seemed to evolve from lime into oranges. On day two this wine was much more resolved and cohesive. The nose showed wonderful notes of citrus and a hint of smoke, while the palate was all about oranges, ranging from navel to cara cara. This was really tasting great on day two and I am sure would have been even better on day three, if I was would have had the resolve to save some. This is a serious wine from a hugely talented young producer. This really seems packed and built for the long haul. There were layers and layers here and only patience will reward those who want to see them all. If you plan to open one anytime soon, make sure to give it a lot of air! A beautiful wine that only makes me more excited about what Lukas is doing.
