Lush dark bramble, cassis , fig, blackcurrant and unsmoked tobacco. The palate is rich, smooth and velvety with great mouthfeel and a medium finish. The grapes from here are supposedly from the UC Davis section of the To Kalon vineyard. I feel the only thing lacking which is stopping the wine from scoring higher is the tannin structure. This should be drank now over the next 5 years. Really enjoyed this. 92+

Nose of cigar box (cedar and tobacco), blackberry and perhaps pencil shavings. Lush soft blackberry fruit on the palate with a touch of vanilla. Soft mouthfeel. Fine grained tannins on a moderately long finish. Very nice. Soft and refined enough to drink now. I’d limit drinking window to 2028 as I don’t think this wine has enough tannin structure to warrant or benefit from long term cellaring. Plus it’s delicious and drinking well now, so why wait?

Premiere Napa Valley; 2/22/2023-3/25/2023 (Napa, California): Brief tasting note, new producer which I stumbled upon in Napa.
