Crushed purple florals on the nose. On the palate: a smoother, but closed-up wine with black cherry, spices, a beautiful showing of red and black licorice, a hint of pyrrazine, and a medium finish though slightly hot (14.9% alcohol). Slightly fruit-forward, but completely dry, though it’s fruit-forward, it’s made in more of a classic Sonoma Cabernet, minus the big backbone.
This has a perfect amount of structure for a silky drinkable wine now, however, I think there is more here underneath. Given it’s 2018 vintage, these are still taking time to completely come around. This wine opened up more on day two, and I think it will drink its best in 2024/2025, though again, perfectly fine right out of bottle now. All-in-all, a very nice wine and another excellent value. You're not getting a ton of tension here, or a lengthy finish, but it has all the components for high quality juice. Looking forward to trying again on day 3.
80% Cabernet, 14% Merlot, 4% Petite Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc 100% Estate, Dry Creek 40% new French oak 14.9% alc.
