Definitely past its prime, as expected. Rather unpleasant on the nose due to a ton of VA. Sort of OK on the palate - traces of what makes Santa Cruz PN's so often enjoyable. Maybe much better 7 yrs ago?

An excellent pinot we took to a restaurant for dinner that stood up very well with both filet mignon and seafood (scallops and scampi). This pinot has the characteristic Santa Cruz mountain pepper, good acidity, and cherry nose and palate.

Served it at a dinner party for 10 along with a couple of other $20-30 pinots, and this one was the star. I let it open up for a couple hours before dinner, and it held up well with spicy Moroccan food. The table forced me to bring out a second bottle, and 2 people took empty bottles home so they could order it the next day. As good a pinot as I've had in this price range.

took an hour or so to open up. nice wine, light to medium body, with a good strong cherry and vanilla flavor, maybe chocolate on the finish, a bit of pepper and little burn at the end. A real nice wine.
