Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Color (5/5) is a deep honey gold that's clear at the edges. On the nose (12/15) a full dose of quince and spice with apple and woody highlights. The palate (16/20) yields a full body of dried apples and quince with a bit of birch, but the real surprise is the bracing acidity that is still fresh ten years after vintage. It called to mind a young Savennières in many respects. The rear label suggests an aging potential of 20 years and I have to say this could do quite well for that long with proper care (7/10). All-in-all, a very satisfying wine and fine example of why this appellation is so highly regarded.
