Given the prior Chardonnays I had tried from the hand of Russell Bevan I expected something extremely rich, and with a serious toasty overtone. Nope. Not a shrinking violet, but nowhere close to over the top, this has salty notes, fresh acidity, yet still a spicy spine. Interesting stuff that confounded my expectations.
