  • Creamy citrus and kumquat, lush and complex, yet clean and precise. Gorgeous, light pink color, worth a hold.

  • A singing sparkling rosé that's one of the best I've ever had from California, but whose short mousse detracts from the wine attaining excellence.

Lots of candied red fruit on the nose, but with this plasticky artificiality that reminded me a lot of cherry Jolly Ranchers and Sour Patch watermelon. It's not entirely a bad thing if you like these flavors like I do, but it's something to keep in mind. There's candied lemon, lemon curd, hints of grapefruit and orange, and a steely flintiness that all add complexity.

Medium-bodied and off-dry with 13% alcohol that's noticeable but just right. It's more fresh than brioche, but there is some light creaminess that's surely because of lees contact. The tech sheet isn't available on Clos Solène's website however, so it's unclear how long the wine actually aged on the lees.

80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay from Bien Nacido.

PNP and drank over a couple of hours. The mousse didn't last very long, which is pretty disappointing. But despite that, the wine itself drinks brilliantly now. I'm holding two more bottles, so I'll be tracking how the wine evolves throughout the years. Drink now until 2030+.
