Croatian red wine from Dalmatia: Babic. Aged in French barriques for 12 months. 13 % Alcohol.
Decanted for 2 hours.
Ruby red color.
Fresh aromas of cherries, black fruit, tobacco and eart. Flavors of black fruit, cherries, earth, nutmeg and cedar. Some minerality in the background.
Dry. Medium body. High acidity. Chewy tannins. Good balance. Very good structure. Some complexity. Intense and wild.
Long finish with cherries and cedar.
A good red wine that improves with air, it really grows on me during the night. Works very good with food (roasted duck) and is enjoyable on its own. A much different and lighter style than Gracin Babić and Markus Franz Ferdinand. Has a good potential to evolve with age. 91/100.
