  • Cherry, cola spice, raisin, flint... Very enjoyable, went down all too easily. Not transcendent but a crowd pleaser for sure.

  • This wine has a vibrant red color, reminiscent of cranberry juice. The nose has cherries, a bouquet of basil and sage and the aroma of an earthy wooded forest. The first tastes are of cherries and cassis accompanied by aromatic herbs with an overlay of old French oak. The finish has a black peppercorn kick to it with mild tannins and an almost nasal sensation resulting from the sharp alcohol.

This wine allegedly retails for $45, but I purchased purchased on sale for $25 with a 10% discount. I bought it because it received a 93 from Wine Enthusiast and a 91 from Wilfred Wong. I guess I understand the ratings because, for the price, it is a complex wine with a unique bouquet and taste.

However, this wine wasn't for me. A bit too much on the herbal fragrance and taste and the spicy peppercorn finish accompanied by a high alcohol level made it less enjoyable.

This wine paired well with grilled lamb chops with a brown sugar, black pepper and garlic rub, scalloped potatoes and broccoli.

A final note, I'm still looking for a Pinot Noir that I actually enjoy. Most have been exceedingly average. This one did stand out, but the tastes were not for my palate.
