I was expecting disappointment with this wine, but it surprised me. The nose is quite rustic, with sweeter red fruits reminiscent of a lighter bodied Zinfandel and a nice spicy note. (I'm using the Ravenscroft 'Invisible' glass that is supposed to be for Chardonnay and Chianti, and I figured this was close to Chianti) Strong acidity on the palate, some nice anise and red fruit with a touch of brett - reminds me just a bit of Bordeaux on the flavor profile, but with the acidity of a Chianti. Finish is rather short, but not unpleasant. Paired well with Papparadelle with Pecorino, snap peas, Jalepenos, and spicy sausage - the extra fat from the cheese and the sausage really was matched well with the wine.

[Composite cork] Medium ruby red. Immediate aromas of dark berries backed up by cherries and oak. Very soft tannins, fruity palette that's more sangiovese than cab-merlot, and decent acid crispness on the finish. Simple, enjoyable Toscana rosso.

Pop and pour. Red fruits and floral notes on the nose. Light red fruit, some light-medium tannins on the palate. Nice food wine. Very drinkable wine even as pop and pour.

Medium Italian red. Nothing special. May be beyond peak

A medium wine. Good fruit, not much tannin. Would but another bottle.
