Wow, value wine from southern Italy that drinks well by itself and can't wait to try with the Tagliatelle. The Gaglioppo Grape is a new discovery for me but I will be back

I'm still not sure I know what Gaglioppo tastes like, unless it is contributing the slightly pruney note to this wine. Whatever the grapes, this is a nicely structured easy-drinking Italian red, more acidic than tannic. At $22, this is a good value, one of many high-quality Italian reds at that price point.

A blend of Gaglioppo, Malvasia Nera, and Greco Nero, with the majority composed of gaglioppo. The wine reminds me of a hybrid of Grenache and Zinfandel with an Italian attitude. Plum, floral, and smokey notes on the nose. The palate is all red fruits, a bit of tannic bite, and appropriate acidity. It is not a flabby wine, quite enjoyable with a grilled steak for dinner
