A small step behind the 2018 for me, but very close, and I think it'll be at the same level after a few years in a cellar. Same profile of rich dark fruits (black plum preserves, black cherry, etc etc) but just a little more reticent this vintage, not closed but not as effortlessly expressive. Great oak integration, baking spices and milk chocolate leaving plenty of room for the fruit to do the heavy lifting. Not an acid-driven wine but no slouch, solid medium acidity that feels deliberate, and some good structure without feeling needlessly tannic or gritty. I really want to rate it higher, I just know better iterations of this exist.
It's not the best expression of this style I've had from the winery and it's a more about power than complexity, but as usual this is a seriously well-made red from these guys and it'll be even better with a short time to relax.
