  • Purchased for $14. I enjoy trying wines with history. The Quinta at Dona Maria was built over 300 years ago, in 1718, and has been producing wine for over 150 years. This red from Alentejo is a blend of 40% Alicante Bouschet, 25% Touriga Nacional, 20% Syrah and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. With grapes like those and the winery history, how could I pass this up? Very dark ruby in color. Lots of delicious spice jumps from the glass.... pepper, tobacco, mint, slate with really juicy red fruits. Dark cherry, plum and slight hints of cassis. Very tasty. But there's a slight green streak on the finish that detracts from, what is generally, a very delicious wine. Grade: B+
