  • Pale ruby typical of pinot noir.

The bouquet consists mainly of barnyard funk , raspberries with their leaves, and a menthol component. Fairly straight forward.

The palate is clean, the entry is smooth, the alcohol is unnoticeable. Tastes of red fruits like cherries and raspberries. Tannins are low, mid palate is quite hollow -almost absent- and the finish is short. Medium + acidity makes for a nice food wine and asks for another sip.

It lacks structure and real depth, therefore as a serious wine it falls short.
An important thing to note is that this wine is pleasant and easy to drink; as a campfire or camping drink, or an introduction to next level wines (compared to let's say under 20$ CAD wines) it really shines. It is a definite crowd pleaser, and in this role it is excellent.

86-90pts depending on the desired role this wine plays for you.

  • I was super looking forward to this New Zealand Pinot but was I super disappointed as it did not give me the typical characteristics of a New Zealand Pinot. Very little fruit or earthy notes simple not overly complex I was just expecting more. Not sure if I got a bad bottle but would have a hard time recommending/suggesting this wine.
