All black olive brine, green stem and pretty harsh tannic grind for the first hour. At least not trying to hide those elements behind some generic cheap fruit mask like so many tend to do.
Decent, balanced, albeit simple fruit comes out after a couple hours, it’s really not bad for 15 bucks in Hawaii, certainly not the deep structured sous bois, dark berry laden excitement other notes make it out to be, but just fine for what it is.
Actually can see it aging a few more years before turning to rubber. This over a multi hundred dollar cult cab jam fest anyday.
Good ol Kermit, knows when it’s good and knows when it’s swill, and knows how to represent both.

The 2020 Kermit Lynch Côtes du Rhône stands out for its well-executed blend of regional varietals, offering a nose that combines leathery softness with subtle briny undertones. Unmarred by the potential harshness its 14.5% alcohol content might suggest, the aroma instead hints at a complexity with notes of blue fruits and a distinct coffee-cedar backdrop. The palate follows through with a smooth yet crisp texture, where the interplay of fruit and spice suggests a restrained luxury. For ~$22 at the local (non chain) wine and beer store this was a steal. The wine's versatility comes to the fore when paired with a range of foods, from a savory pepperoni pizza to a simple arugula and artichoke salad. It displays a commendable balance, managing to provide warmth without sharpness, and a depth that supports its fruit-forward profile without succumbing to sweetness. The Côtes du Rhône 2020 by Kermit Lynch is a testament to the region’s ability to produce reds that can both stand alone and complement a meal, a valuable addition to any table.

Raspberry and currants on the nose. Pepper, prunes, dark cherry. Tannic, short finish.

As others noted, a quality CdR and table wine with spice finesse, berries and dried herbs de Provence.

Quality table Cotes du Rhone as always. Good to have a few bottles in the cellar. This one really had the hotter flavors and depth of Provence.
