Ramato style Pinot Grigio - but forget about Friuli, we're in the Edna Valley! This wine tastes exactly how you would imagine. Everything about it speaks to the California sun and the use of oak. Speaking of, this has 6 month aging in French oak and Acacia barrels. I am not sure I've ever had a wine aged in Acacia before, so that's cool too.
Ripe strawberry, ripe yellow peach, ripe melon, vanilla, cotton candy, a hint of nuttiness and autolytic yeast on the nose. We're definitely not in Italy here. The palate adds raspberry and cranberry, really driven by the sun-kissed fruit flavors. The oak flavors come back on the finish - vanilla, strawberry shortcake, smoke and cedar. Overall clean (which is not always a given in the world of skin contact wine). Everything about this betrays this wine's origin in California, and that's a beautiful thing. Medium + intensity of aromas and HIGH intensity of flavors.
Medium + body with medium acid and a good lingering finish that's again very much driven by the oak. This wine is all about primary and secondary notes. It's not the most complex wine around; but it's clean, unique and speaks to both its terroir and methods of production.

A little bit funky, a little bit green, and a bit of bitterness, which which makes it kinda interesting.
