  • Made with a pink-skinned mutation of Trousseau, sourced form a vineyard planted in 1981. Crushed and lightly pressed immediately afterwards. Fermented to full dryness, aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks for six months. No MLF. Blended and bottled in February 2022. 13,1% alcohol.

Pale and rather neutral whitish-green color. Fruity, dry and somewhat restrained nose with aromas of spicy red apple, some waxy tones and a little bit of white peach. The wine feels clean, fresh and somewhat neutral on the palate with a medium body and acid-driven flavors of crunchy whitecurrants and borderline under-ripe apple tones, a little bit of stony minerality, light saline nuances and a hint of waxy richness. The high acidity lends good sense of freshness and sense of structure. The finish is fresh and crunchy with a moderately long yet quite neutral aftertaste of lemony citrus fruits and sharp green apple tones, a little bit of incisive steely minerality, light saline nuances and a hint of whitecurrants.

A pleasant and refreshing but also quite neutral and one-dimensional little white. I feel Trousseau Gris is a variety from which one could make some really interesting wines, but it feels the producer has aimed for a light and refreshing but also very neutral, simple and anonymous style. While I do enjoy the crisp acidity here, there is really nothing of real interest here. This is a simple summer white that could be made from any imaginable white grape variety. Enjoyable, but definitely nothing to get excited over.
