  • This time we drank this wine while eating korean bbq. We had a bottle of 1er Burgundy before this. The difference in characteristics could be noticed immediately. From the structure, the nose and the balance. Even while eating very strongly flavored BBQ and other korean foods, this wine's aroma and flavor still holds very strong.

  • Good as the last I tasted it, which was 2 days ago. Same balanced and well-structured characteristics. This time I drank it over dinner. I am continually liking this wine.

  • Bought 6 btls at the recommendation of Wine Library in NJ. I wasn't expecting much since the price was low. Even though the seller said it was a 94WA rating, I couldn't verify this rating from WA website.
This is the first time that I have drank a red wine from Portugal. I have no idea what to expect from Touriga Nacional. So everything would be a surprise for me, in good or bad ways.
Anyway, the wine tasted amazing, especially considering its low cost. The wine appeared dark ruby in color when poured into the glass. The initial nose was a bit constrained, showing only graphite, cedar and a hint of smoke. Initial taste showed a good balance of tannin, acidity and alcohol level, this was a full-bodied wine for sure. After decanting it for about 30min, the aroma and taste really opened up. Very noticable was the taste of dark berries, black currant and pepper, all with a leathery texture.
In summary, I would highly recommend the Quinta da Falorca Touriga Nacional to any adventurous drinkers. Definitely worth a try!
