  • Opened on Christmas Day in front of our beautiful tree. Had without, then with, then post food. No decant.

Slow forming and heavy legs. Clear red color with undertones. Something almost bricking or rusty on edges(?).

Upon open, the wine was cranky with cranberry and sour cherries. A wooded note with those elements called a memory of lambic.

After an hour, evolution was fruitful. Fruit condition ripened: strawberry, cherry, pomegranate. Light wood influence. Mineral. Leather and oak foudre feel.

Bone dry. From beginning to end the acid provided wonderful structure. The bottle says this was 15.6% abv - it was invisible; the leg length was the only clue. The oak/tannin influence at times felt unresolved.

This clearly had a lot of life left in it.

  • Red berries and bitter chocolate to the aroma. The palate is silky and savoury and has decent depth. There’s fruit concentration and a stony/chalky finish.
