Method: opened the night before (half-bottle left) (this is why I won't enter my score)
Palate: blue fruited, dried herbs, graphite; bitter finish; grainy (sediment?)
Overall thoughts: In one respect, it was cool to see a Materium that had settled down and lost some of the most intense primary fruit in favor of sharing the stage a bit more with the secondary notes. However, it wasn't holding together so well. Some things were very good, some were pretty lousy, so overall, this balanced out to a good wine (85 points).
I won't enter my score since it's not fair to rate it only on night 2, but I've had plenty of wines this old and older that were still going strong on night 2.

Yum, with a Flannery Baby Tomahawk and broccoli w/ hollandaise . Not mind blowing but very smooth, flavorful and deep. I was going to throw out to auction but how much I liked it, I will drink it up happily

So good. Intense, bright black raspberry and black currant, dark soil tones and a little herbal note. Very well-balanced, with fine tannins and acid carrying the fruit through to a long finish. Because of the balance and brightness of the fruit, it doesn't feel heavy, although the fruit is layered and rich. My last bottle: I'm sad to see it go.

Cassis, black raspberry flavors and nose. Good length and depth. Classic cabernet profile. Excellent but not profound.
