  Inasmuch that it was well past the anticipated "drink by" date, we were rather concerned upon opening the bottle but after about 20 min, the wine mellowed considerably, exhibiting strong tobacco and deep red fruit. Very mellow, almost tasted like a dry ruby port. Color was very deep, opaque.
