  Restaurant purchase in Asti at Ristorante Campanaro. Translucent medium garnet with some slight brick on the edge. Nose isn’t effusive but still very complex with notes of porcini, truffle, game meat, balsamic and light cherry. Palate has bright enough acidity and powdery fine tannins but probably less than the average 2016 Barolo. There are notes of cherry, savory and earthy mushroom and grilled meat. Very approachable. Better with food. More mature than its age would indicate but that also makes it good for a restaurant menu.
