  • 15 yr old Napa Cab Sauv did really well and paired perfectly with a number of dishes at a restaurant.

  • Alas, my last bottle of an original full case purchased at the winery in 2007, I think (before I joined CellarTracker). My wife and I couldn't stop from opening it to enjoy at out pre-anniversary dinner at the Black Bass Hotel in Bucks County PA. This wine has aged magnificently and I don't recall a single bad bottle among them. Very reminiscent of the best of white Bordeaux. Bright golden yellow with the look of a 5 year old sauvignon blanc. Rich, creamy yet with good acidity and minerality and full of layers of flavor like melon, citrus, tropical fruits like guava and mango and lemon curd on the finish. So delicious, I really do wish I could find some more pristine bottles of this wine!

  • This was another "Wow wine" this evening. It was bright yellow gold colored with a surprisingly youthful appearance. My friends guessed this was about 5 years old not 13+. Nose was full of vanilla, creme brûlée and lemon curd. On the palate it was so rich and chewy showing the creamy elements in the nose along with some tropical fruits like mango and guava and a finish that had lots of the lemon curd. Acidity is still quite good suggesting a reasonably long life still ahead. SO complex and layered and rich and chewy, this was the surprise WOTN by most measures, though the 1978 Montelena Estate Cab still stole the show for the evening by my reckoning with this a close second.

  • Bright clear golden straw color. Nose has grass and citrus elements. Palate has floral elements along withe moderate grapefruit and generic citrus, less so the grassiness in the nose. Mouthfeel is pretty rich for a Sauvignon Blanc. Nicely balanced with good remaining fruit and lively acidity. I think it still has a decent amount of life left if stored properly

  • The color was a full yellow but not golden. The bouquet was of apple and grapefruit, more grapefruit than the last time I had this wine. The flavor was similar to the nose. Grapefruit was very pronounced, with layers of apple and some meyer lemon. There was much less acidity than the last time I had the wine. I fear that this wine only has about 2 years left before it heads sharply south in quality. If I had been scoring and taking notes when I last had this wine I think I would have given it a higher score...suggesting it is past its peak already but it could be bottle variation. I'll try it again soon to see.
