Just so good. PnP nose was all blackberry and blueberry. Palate has more of the same plus bacon fat, smoke, and herbs. A hint of heat as well. Tannins are in a good place with just a few remaining. This one is clearly in a good window right now and may or may not improve before hitting the downslope. I'd drink the rest within 2 years.

This wine developed beautifully since I bought it several years ago. The Viognier is much in evidence, in the form of a lovely floral aroma and a bright lift in all the blueberry and boysenberry flavors. Still inky, still decadent-tasting, and still delicious. Mine was throwing a fair amount of sediment. If you have an older bottle and this doesn't make you happy, I'd advise a decant.

Aromas: Initially nose was restrained. Not getting much. +20 minutes getting big syrah notes, with black pepper, leather and some floral brought out by the Viognier.
Flavors: Black fruits, jammy flavors, plums, and some white fruit and floral notes from the viognier.
Overall: Very, very nice. Pleasantly surprised. Very nice.

Enjoyable blend here. Enough viognier to keep it tame and add some interesting earthy notes to the nose and flavor profile. Soft mouth feel with rich flavors of tea, boysenberry, currant with some lighter notes of peach and apricot. Enjoyable.
