My journey through Tavel continues. As usual with these wines it's an absolutely striking ruby colour in the glass. The nose requires a bit of coaxing before giving up a lovely bouquet of peach, strawberry, raspberry, white pepper and garrigue. The palate is rich and beautifully textured with plenty of sweet fruit, depth and fine acidity. The Tavel structure is present. This already feels quite open but will definitely benefit from another year or so in bottle to knit together. I don't think this has the quality or complexity to move to the next level (certainly I have tried better Tavels) but it's another good effort from the very consistent Alain Jaume.
