  • Tasted with monthly Winos group, blind. Older, touch brown, delicious - guessed was a 1997 or 1990 or older. Not complex but resolved & excellent. Still fresh on the palate. I drank a lot of this wine when it was more available in MA and sorry not to have any now.

I voted for current pleasure in drinking and not future potential. Received 3 of 6 first place votes in flight with 2010 Jadot Ursules, 1998 Gouges Vaucrains, and 2015 Le Moine Volnay Clos des Chenes. Wines were quite different but pretty much at the same level.

  • We drink zee French vino (Chez Simo Bistro, Chicago IL): Nose: This was very aromatic and perfumed from the get-go with dark red fruits, earth notes, truffles, and some purple florals. This nose has a real elegance and classiness to it that makes it very attractive.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and silky tannins. There is a youth to it, but the palate is very refined with dark red fruits, earth notes, violets, and spice tones.

Overall: This was beautifully balanced. It showed some real poise with a pretty earthen base. This is one of the better successes of the vintage that I've had.

  • Dinner at Chez Simo (Chez Simo Bistro - Chicago, IL): Loved it. Perfumed nose of red fruits, florals and earth. Deep and complex, this is a real beauty from Ecard. While the vintage gets a bad rap due to the heat, this retained nice freshness and still had nice structure.

  • Light ruby with mild bricking; Bright red fruit, complex floral, more elegant than powerful, youthful but integrated; light bodied, bright sweet red fruit, less earth and funk; finish is short-medium length. Excellent wine, drink now and ready. 90-91

  • Quite a dark red pinot colour no orange at all. Needs an hour of decanting to lose its acidic edge - the nose opens to potted strawberries, a bit oxidative, and some earth. On the palate very smooth, a youthful acidity, a lot of strawberry and bit plummy fruit, nice length and structure. Not a powerhouse but quite refined, a gentleman really, impressive ageing.
