Biodynamic farming. In the winery a combo of whole bunch and destemmed grapes + some carbonic maceration. Definitely a good thing because this Pineau d’Aunis comes off as a rather light and easy drop. Fun, fresh and characterful with some VA at the beginning, but this blows off pretty quickly. The finish is dry, long and crunchy with nuanced flavors of tart redcurrant and cranberry, light leafy notes, a little bit of perfumed floral character and a sanguine hint of iron.

Peppery enough that I thought this was syrah from the Northern Rhone.
A bit less acidity than i'd expected, but then again i've only ever had really natty examples of this grape. Good structure here and a decidedly red fruit profile, but with a number of savoury bits here and there.
Likeable overall and pretty good value!

I had this wine years ago and was excited to try it again as it seems like pineau d’aunis is having its moment. The wine had a strong sense of poorly integrated alcohol. Not bad but wouldn’t buy again.

Way to “natural” for its own good
