  • Once again an exemplary light but firm dry Mosel.

  • Nose: subtle white tropical fruit... papaya-ish balanced with geologic notes. No heat. Very tropical vibe. Appears dull gold, M- viscosity. Billed at 11%. Palate - definite underripe fruit, nectarine, pear, lime. Some subtle geologic notes and a touch saline. I personally found it to be less geologic than described by others. Somewhat warmer than fridge temp is ideal; otherwise, it is quite subtle indeed. Quality persistence. Paired very nicely with food. Chive butter radish baguette sandwich and a nice green salad. Delish. On its own, I think it would be less remarkable.

  • I followed this bottle over three days and to start it was a pure and hyper focused mix of acid and rock. I made the joke that drinking this was like an advanced course in mineralogy. The rocks seemed to come in many forms, from crushed to pulverized, and chalky to wet.
By day three came nuanced tones of herbs, underripe pears and pineapples, delicate spice, smoke, and eventually petrol.
All of this with the purity and filigree of mineral water. The wines from Ludes have honestly changed the way that I think about Riesling. They are incredibly unique and represent the monolith that is called Thörnicher Ritsch in a way that speaks through the amazing voice that Hermann and Julian Ludes give to this special place.

  • Floral and mineral (slate) and surprisingly fresh for its age. Very high acidity: if too cold, there is nothing else to it. Refined and understated, fine aftertaste.
