The fruit was almost completely gone, leaving only a hint of green apple, but the oak framework of the wine was intact and very soft and integrated, tasting somewhat like a "good" version of an inexpensive, overoaked Chardonnay. Not the kind of thing I want to drink regularly but this was an interesting experience and well worth the 5.99. Kudos to Vina Tarapaca for making such sturdy wines; this had been standing upright in a small town West Texas liquor store for nearly ten years and the cork even came out in one piece. It's likely that I got the only good bottle of the twenty or so on the shelf; as dark as this was, and it looked like a TBA or somesuch in color, it was by far the lightest colored one on the shelf.
