Very strange wine - I don't get the Pinot Noir at all but its good!! Still extremely young (this is ageing super well), on the austerity / seriousness side that I particularly like with a super freshness. Great discovery

Ruby with light orange rim, at first reduced nose and with time and air offering earthy and spicy notes. Tobacco, minerals along with cherry, mulberry and dark fruit flavors nice acidity and softened tannins. Long and persistent finish. This is fully mature now with years ahead. -2020, I guess longer. This bottle was decanted.

Blind Dinner at Mark's (Chicago, IL): Initially, this was restrained on the nose, red-fruited and moderately floral. The palate is quite drying with just a tad too much oak, though there is still a fair bit of red fruit and mineral. Moderate acidity. This doesn't have the earthiness that I'm used to in a Burgundy. However, based on the state of the palate, this did seem a little advanced for its age.

Dark in colour. Despite the request on the label of "bitte bekantieren", the initial impression of this wine is one of high-toned black cherries. There is an intense earthy aroma that evokes Chambolle, but comparing this to Burgundy is hardly fair to either party. The nose is alluring, and digging deeper there are some Christmas spices that lurk beneath. On the palate, this is very fleet-footed, with flavours of black cherry again. A little bit too much oak on the palate for my taste. Tannins have mostly softened up, but this certainly could use more age to let the parts integrate.
