Pretty decent for a very inexpensive wine. Upon first opening it has the somewhat sharp nose and palate -- that some describe as green pepper along with dark, blackcurrant like fruit -- commonly associated with carménère. It has a kind of roughness in this regard. With aeration and especially by the second day the wine achieves more balance and becomes more quaffable. Makes me curious to try some higher quality carménère one of these days.

Light tasting wine, near inexistant on the nose. Really light raspberry and vanilla flavours than finishing on a light but more persistant blackberry flavour and a light bitter note. Slight grippiness of the tanins appear after a while. Lake's concentration and complexity. A wine that drinks well but has nothing exciting. Don't think I'll buy it again.

Mushroom, green pepper, earthy, raspberry, a bit of vanilla and hops on the nose. Tastes of blackberry and raspberry and coffee, a bit vegetal, some leather. I really like the nose on this wine, the flavor is a bit underwhelming, but it's well balanced, full bodied, and has soft tannins.

Medium ruby colored with slight staining and a medium viscosity (13.5% ABV). The nose has telltale pyrazines with some green veggie notes along with blackberry, black raspberry, menthol, vanilla, cocoa and charred oak. The palate is dry with medium (+) acidity and lithe tannins. A medium body is layered with blackberry and black raspberry. The green note has faded but the oak nuance is present. The finish is a touch tart and goes on for a medium length. Not overly complex- this is a weekday pleasure that will go great with Beef and Ale pie, lamb chops or grilled sausages. 88 points for this $8 effort makes it a 5 star wine to load up on and drink till 2025.

It’s good for $10 or less. I’ve had worse.
