  • Even ruby throughout. Ripe blackberry and a bit of green herbs at first, then joined by soil and citrus later. Muscular and somewhat burly right out of the bottle, but then transformed into a round, sappy, deep Premier Cru with a dash of soil and some round tannins remaining, not at all too big for its britches. It kept on coming, surprising with its quality from a mid-tier producer, although I doubt it will ever win a prize for finesse. You can't argue that is isn't a good mouthful, though. Another wine providing a glimpse that 2005 is finally starting to come around, although I wonder if the heights it achieves will be as great as initially predicted.

  • Decanted briefly and served with King salmon. Bright and masculine on the palate with youthful tannins, sweet acid, white tea, sous bois, and orange peel. Drinking great now with possible upside.

  • 13% alcohol.

Slightly translucent and quite deep cherry red color with subtly developed orange highlights and almost colorless rim. Ripe and somewhat restrained nose with fine-tuned aromas of pipe tobacco, autumnal forest, some developed beef jerky tones, a little bit of bloody iron, light lingonberry tones, a hint of sous-bois and a touch of licorice. The wine is ripe, moderately full-bodied and textural on the palate with dry and somewhat developed flavors of crunchy cranberries, sour cherry bitterness, tart dark berries, a little bit of red plum, light autumnal notes of damp leaves and sous-bois, a hint of licorice and a developed touch of beef consommé. The overall feel is juicy, balanced and very harmonious with moderately high acidity and somewhat grippy medium-plus tannins. The finish is juicy and harmonious with long, dry and quite complex flavors of sour cherries, some meaty umami, a little bit of tart cranberries, light notes of pipe tobacco, a hint of earthy Pinosity and a touch of licorice.

A beautiful, harmonious and fine-tuned 1er Cru Morey St. Denis that is starting to show some tertiary characteristics, yet still retains lovely sense of youth - evident especially in the surprisingly dark and vibrant color. Not a flashy wine (unlike Heresztyn's more expressive Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux 2005 that was tasted alongside), this shows more restraint and poise. Very attractive and ready for consumption, although the firm structure and vibrant fruit still promise potential for future development. Very lovely effort, priced according to its quality at 66€.

  • eye: this is darker than 'regular' vintages of Burgundy. ruby, still translucent though, 1mm fading. nose: liquid stone, cranberries, marzipan, sous bois. palate: ripe(er than anticipated through the nose) with cran- and strawberry, rose water, very well balanced with delicious acid profile. almost full-bodied for a MSD with 'liquid stone mouthfeel'. 19 Caudalie finish, stable. this is a wonderful wine and I wish I had more

  • - Violet color and aromas of strawberry jam and cloves. It's balanced and has flavours of hazelnut with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Very nice. Dark fruit. Very smooth. Only slightly tannic. Too bad this is the only bottle. Should age beautifully.
