A private dinner (Restaurant 4850, Amsterdam, NL): Vines from Ribeira Sacra - Lousas from Envinate. Beautifully pure and precise, young but expressive, peppery and spicy, black fruit, crushed red berries, flowers, dusty chalky minerality, tight and very energetic, transparent and concentrated, grippy and finely grained tannins, long and very tight finish. Beautifully put together, but it does need a few years to relax.

Color: medium purple Nose: stem for days. Thyme and oregano. Geranium. Pollen, red apple Palate: this has medium-high acidity, medium tannins, aromatically the stem is all I get. Balance is so so, the acidity does jump out. Medium body Finish: medium
Natural but clean, this has the same herbaceous quality I see in every single phelan farm bottling. This is also a lot greener than other bottlings, a bit too much in my view. Air and temperature didn't make a difference: this is not in a great spot in my view, and I'm not sure it will ever be much more compelling than that

Incredible spice on the nose and the palate. Spectacular wine.
