Surprised by this wine. . .many of the DeNegoce wines I find are just "ok" but given the price point, fine. This wine was excellent. Noticed the light color (close to a pinot) and nice floral nose. Drinking was a full bodied, well appointed cab.

As before, really delicious. Very juicy cherry and a little sweet spice. Perfect with veal chops in a red wine sauce and roast fennel. Is it going to rival a great Bdx for complexity? No, but to me that is the wrong question. This is a delightfully well balanced CA cab that is exactly what I want out of Napa on a random weekend. One bottle left and wish I had more. Might improve with age but frankly it is so tasty right now, why bother?

Similar note to last time. Wow, what a beautiful, uncomplicated but finely balanced wine this is. What’s so striking is how quickly the oak has just dissolved and integrated itself into the wine. Delightful.

1/2 hr decant. Wow, a year in the dark and a huge difference. Maybe the decant helped too. This was now a lot lighter (in terms of taste profile more than weight) - dark berries and plum are largely gone, replaced by intense and ripe cherries with just a hint of plum. Beautiful herbs this time which were absent IIRC a year ago. Slightly straightforward finish but this is quibbling. This wine is now a big wow as an exuberant but not excessive Napa cab. Much better balanced now. Needs at least a half hour of air and more is better to give you something that marries perfectly with wagyu filet mignon. A great dN deal, as it turns out.

No match for the far more advanced 2015 Animo from Michael Mondavi, enjoyed with a ribeye dinner; however, this is excellent, youthful, and primary; acid and tannin in flux; strong finish. Decant short term or hold until 2033+.
