Popped and poured. Medium bright purple color. Great nose right out of the bottle with blackberry and blueberry notes, violet, fresh cracked black pepper. Similar flavors on the palate with just deliciously pure, juicy black and blue fruit. Medium+ acidity. Medium tannin and body. Spicy finish. Fantastic bottle of Syrah.

Beguiling. Straining to show varietal character, yet still alluring, with hints of black pepper and smoke accenting the primary (and light) notes of black currant, black raspberry, and carob. Juicy acidity adds lift. Turned out to be a great match with homemade eggplant parm.

Light aromas of iron, black plums, black currrant. On the palate the wine is dry with medium acidity, medium smooth tannins, medium body. Flavor intensity is medium with minerality, black fruit (black plum/currants), a sour cherry note, and hint of dried plum. Finish is short. The wine is good but lacks on finish and complexity. Drink now or within the next few years.

Primary and simple red to black fruits, minimal herb, opaque. Finish is short, lacking definition or tension, albeit fresh. While this does fall in the fresher Matthiasson vein, its still most things being wrong with primary NW Syrah. It strikes me he is making less wine with intensionally these days.

Decant! This is a lovely lighter expression of Syrah from Matthiasson. Their wines always err on the side of purity of expression, lower alcohol, and higher acidity than you’d expect. Absolutely a well integrated Syrah with dark berry notes and luscious mouthfeel.
