  • 95.5% Carménère
    4.5% Cabernet Sauvignon
    from Block 27 Peumo Vineyard, D.O. Peumo, Cachapoal Valley at 170 m
    extending along the River Cachapoal on terraces of the Coastal Mountain Range
    with deep clay loam alluvial soil and vines cuttings from cuttings of
    pre-phylloxera genetic material planted in 1990.
    Harvest 6-13 May. Manual selection of clusters and berries.
    Gravity fed to tanks. 9-day fermentation plus 10-12 day maceration.
    Malolactic in stainless steel tanks.
    Aged 9 months in French oak barrels (58% new, rest 2nd and 3rd use)
    14.5% Abv.

    History: Concha y Toro’s founded in 1883 by Melchor Concha y Toro.
    Now the largest producer and exporter of wines from Latin America
    with more than 10,000 hectares of vineyards in Chile, Argentina and
    the United States producing 16+ brands in Chile alone.
    Made at the Peumo Cellar.
    Winemaker: Marcio Ramírez.

    A(ccuracy)=2: Med ruby. Leafy herbal varietal.
    B(alance)=2: Dry fruit with firm structure.
    C(omplexity)=2: Green pepper, dry herbs, roots, olive, earth.
    D(epth)=1: Green mouthfeel. Even on palate and finish.

    Wine Tally Score [2,2,2,1] = 7/10

    Redolent of Chinese herbal medicine, similar to the Cabernet Gernischt there.
