Colour showing the sweet spot of ageing, just beginning to turn from ruby to ruby brick. I’d love to witness a house made of ruby bricks and this wine certainly retains its structure!
This is fruit forward, relatively rich and full, but far from the sugar bombs that some Napa floor Cabs can become in warmer vintages. Tannins and acidity are still going strong, and pleasant. It seems like this is the beginning of the best drinking window. A couple of hours’ decant still seems beneficial. Wines like this are proof that for everyone with a stocked cellar, life keeps getting better everyday.
Apologies for the abridged description as per my cold. I hope my company enjoyed this and I’ll get in shape soon. More aged marvels await us!

Powerhouse at 15 years old. Has plenty of its prime left. Easily bested a 2004 Beringer PR that was enjoyed as well on this evening. Red fruited with notes of blood orange adding zing and interest. Long finish showing tobacco, mushroom and red licorice. Fine tannins that integrate nicely with air.
