This was a real head turner. Dark red with purple rim. Expressive violet and pine nose. Concentrated, explosive and layered with flavour. Lots of personality and interest. Precise, sweet tannins on the finish. Give it a couple of years for the toasty oak to intergrade but boy what a wine.
Per chief winemaker, German Di Cesare, the grapes are from the Vistabla area planted in 1912 by Italian immigrants. Influenced by the Mendoza River, 50% aged 18 months in oak, 1/3 new, 50% in foudres.
