Wonderful copper coloured rosé from Simpsons. Redcurrant, pear, and a little salted caramel on the nose. Strawberries and cream on the palate. Perfect acidity. Cheers!

I think this may be my first ‘Wow’ still wine from England. 100% Pinot meunièr from the chalk downs and flinty soils of the north downs south of Canterbury. “Ramato” gently copper coloured and transparent- lovely colour! Nose is mineral and dry- not especially citric and perhaps very slightly stone fruited (yellow plum?). If anything it smells like a dry champagne without the bubbles. First sip confirms dryness and minerality but the finish is smooth and unusual and kind of “strawberries and cream” was the initial impression- confirmed subsequently. A long finish with persistence. The nose becomes broader and more candied but the palate remains resolutely fresh and dry. Great wine to pair with food.
