very deep, inky, purplish colour in glass with medium body. the nose has the expected black fruit notes heavily punctuated by herbal and spicy tones, and even whiffs of drying lavender. it has medium body and is fruit-forward in mouth. gradually, spicy and woody notes add depth while there's a fresh lift from moderate acidity. it feels ready to drink and should do so for a couple more years.
14.2% AbV; almost two years in oak (45% new).

Medium purple in color. Nose is more rustic and earthy. Smells a bit minerally. M+ tannins with a nice chalky mouthfeel.

Visit to Migration (Napa): first syrah… cooler "coastal" wine for early drinking.
